Beautiful Illustrated Quotations: 15 Best Christmas Quotes: Just What Is It About Christmas Time?: From Denny: At this time of the year, in the early winter, there slowly descends and rests upon the land a sense of spiritual calm and Peace.

The Social Poets: Cleveland Mayor Spanks Big Banks On Abandoned Foreclosures

JP Morgan Chase Big Banks Action

The Social Poets: Cleveland Mayor Spanks Big Banks On Abandoned Foreclosures: From Denny: A crooked Congress and a delusional President continue to ignore the millions of foreclosed homes at their peril. America's Winter Revolution is about to erupt like a super volcano before the New Year has a chance to arrive.

Yes, Americans are that fed up at inequality, unemployment, under employment, unfairness, a police state mentality against peaceful protests and double standards for the law.

Mayors across the country are equally desperate about how to deal with the huge inventory of abandoned foreclosed homes getting vandalized.

Best Spiritual Posts: Music: Amazing Grace By Hayley Westenra: From Denny:  It's always refreshing to see what the newest generation does with a traditional standard, especially the Christian ones.  Hayley Westenra performs her wonderful rendition of a difficult song to sing, both emotionally and artistically.

Romancing The Chocolate: Cookies: Chocolate Bliss

Semi-sweet chocolate chips

Romancing The Chocolate: Cookies: Chocolate Bliss: From Denny: A melt-in-your-mouth cookie favorite. A local food writer received it from a friend in Nashville, Tennessee. "And she told two friends - and she told two friends..." :) This cookie has been making the rounds with chocolate foodies.

It's an easy recipe, fast enough to whip up for the holidays. Part of what makes this cookie so delectable is that half of the chocolate chips are melted and added to the batter along with the unmelted ones. It's like what chef Paul Prudhomme practiced with the concept of layering the same taste in a dish.

Poem: The Owl Speaks

Great Horned Owl

From Denny:  Do you ever wake a couple of hours before dawn, deep in thought, only to hear the sounds of Nature speaking to you just outside your window?  Do you ever stop and concentrate upon the messages speaking all around you?  This poem is one of those times...

Best Spiritual Posts: Music: The First Noel By Jackie Evancho

O Holy Night (Jackie Evancho album)

Best Spiritual Posts: Music: The First Noel By Jackie Evancho: From Denny: The mature pure talent coming out of this little girl is astonishing. A beautiful voice matched well with this beautiful traditional Christmas song. It's as if you are hearing this old standard for the first time.

The second video is her first audition on America's Got Talent where she swept away the judges. Jackie began singing at age eight when her parents took her to see the Phantom of The Opera. It inspired her so much she began singing around the house. At age ten she auditioned on America's Got Talent - and the rest is history.

20 Christmas Poems From Favorite Classic Poets

bright lights, big city

From Denny:  Revisit some old favorites and discover new poetry friends from the past century.  Here are 20 classic poems, some familiar like "The Night Before Christmas" and many more are so old and not taught in the current fast-paced culture that the past couple of generations may not have read them. These poems are so dense with imagery and archaic language it will exercise your brain and warm your heart at the same time! :)

A Protesters Poem

American Flag

From Denny:  One thing about staking out my poetic position as a Social Issues Poet (SIP) is that there sure is no shortage of tough issues to tackle, bring awareness to, argue and present probable solutions.  With the struggles of humanity to mature spirituallycome the challenges of everyday living.  That includes bad leaders, wars and economic issues on a global scale.

This poem recognizes all those who display the courage to raise their voices against tyranny and greed.  Dedicated to the global Occupy Wall Street protesters and the Middle East Arab Spring protests - and now the tens of thousands protesting in Russia against Putin and a stolen national election.  Leaders need to wake up and realize the only definition of "leadership" is that you truly care about and take care of your people.

Anything else falls short.  Where there is true caring the country is at Peace and balanced economically.

Beautiful Illustrated Quotations: How Close Is God In Prayer?

The path to the sun!

Beautiful Illustrated Quotations: How Close Is God In Prayer?: From Denny: This quote is really about All That Is larger than ourselves. Just when we think one power is so huge we discover there is a much larger Power living right inside us, ready for the asking.

Best Spiritual Posts: Music: Perfect Love Marys Song

The Passion of the Christ

Best Spiritual Posts: Music: Perfect Love Marys Song: From Denny: With the Thanksgiving holiday dominated by ads promoting shopping frenzies like on Black Friday I thought I'd post a contrast to remind us of "the reason for the season" - Jesus Christ. This is one powerful song and well edited video. It contains clips from the Passion of the Christ movie. Pull out a box of tissues because you are going to need it.

Beautiful Illustrated Quotations: How Does Solitude Clear Our Perception?

Beautiful Illustrated Quotations: How Does Solitude Clear Our Perception?: From Denny: Meditation and deep prayer is all about first quieting the monkeys of the mind - those daily "To Do" lists that crowd out deeper consideration of the thornier issues in life. We all know how imperative it is to go to a relaxing place in Nature to quiet our emotions from stress.
